Advanced Course on Cyanobacteria and Cyanotoxins

The course will take place at UAM laboratories and in aquatic ecosystems in the central region of Spain. The participants of this activity will be Ph. D. students and early career fellows from water companies, water authorities and water administration from Europe. The Advanced Course on Cyanobacteria and Cyanotoxins will include lectures from World Class researchers, but also practicals on every item related with the topic. The attendees will learn how to sample the ecosystems, and will analyze the samples including the taxonomical composition of the cyanobacterial population, the toxin content and genetic characteristics of the community. The course will take place during two weeks: the first week is at the university and the second one is independent work at home. The work will be evaluated and those fulfiling the requirements may obtain 4 ECTS and an official certificate. This course is funded by two European Initiatives: CYANONILS and CYANOCOST .
